Newsday’s subscriber model, is the verdict in yet? The SF Chronicle reports:
Placed behind a pay wall last fall, New York Newsday.com only attracted 35 people at $5 per person. The reason for this awful performance, according to Newsday, is that the website’s offered for free to “Millions of Cablevision customers in the New York tri-state area and 75 percent of Long Island households, including all Newsday home delivery subscribers, now have exclusive access to newsday.com at no additional charge,” Newsday said in a statement reported at Paid Content.
Apparently there was a State of the Union drinking game some of the funnier ones are:
Obama says “Let me be clear, change isn’t easy, make no mistake.”
He’s screwing with you to get you drunk, so five shots
Joe Biden nods-off/laughs inappropriately/starts talking before the speech is over
Do three shotsObama says he’s “fighting for you”
Do one shot, two if you believe him
I don’t know how I would have fared in this one.
I could have called this a mile away. From paid public speaker to Oh wait, TV? (Nov 21st):
- Hopefully you will move into a nice TV or Radio show. Hey Lou Dobbs just left! If she really wants to cash in, she should get on TV. I mean they give anyone a talk show on TV nowadays.
I’ve said this to people who will listen when they ask: I think leaving Alaska meant that she was going to do some type of media. In the end I guess I was thinking more of a TV or Radio thing but paid public speaking I guess is the same thing when it all boils down to it.
Interesting and the news on Monday was:
Palin Signs Deal with Fox News
Sarah Palin has signed on as a contributor to the Fox News Channel, the New York Times reports.
“The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal… Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time.”
Now officially, she is a talking head. That’s fine but I think this might have been her ceiling to begin with so it’s good that she’s made it there.
I like to call myself an independent.
So before I wrote this, I retook the Political Compass test I took in college. Here is the link to the test, by the way. So here is the guideline of the test, how your score compares.
And here is how I scored, my red dot is slight right. There you go, that’s pretty close to center. If I were only in Ohio, Pennsylvania or maybe Iowa my vote would be extremely valuable to Presidential candidates.
Now I want to say. Sarah Palin, new book writer Sarah Palin, has NO chance to win the nomination in 2012 and has no business anymore playing this political game. I have to agree with this FiveThirtyEight article.
I hope she realized from this book that:
I’ve said this to people who will listen when they ask: I think leaving Alaska meant that she was going to do some type of media. In the end I guess I was thinking more of a TV or Radio thing but paid public speaking I guess is the same thing when it all boils down to it.
If Sarah Palin was a star in this party, then her downfall has been like a supernova. There’s probably a lot of, what could have been in this book, but how do you expect to bash everyone along the way when you took a ride from Governor to party star to disliked figure to resigned Governor. There’s just no chance to win here. I have to think she will have to fade from the national scene in the next few years. And that’s a good thing, for everyone.
